After teasing this for years and years it’s finally official, the Number 99 is going to Ducati for at least two years, he’s gonna get (more) stupid rich as a consequence and if he succeeds with a championship, he will cement his place in history as one of the best riders in history.
Personally I think next year GP is gonna be very interesting, I think the Ducati is probably the best bike right now, they just lack a fantastic rider to be champions, I think next year comes down to Maverick if he goes to Yamaha and Lorenzo if he’s competitive with it (I think he will be), otherwise it’ll be the Marquez and Rossi show.

Does this mean that Rossi can get another championship?

Also... this will be the third time a God will drive a Ducati. They’ve won a title with a demigod (Hayden) riding, but Lorenzo is Poseidon.

Probably, though I gotta wonder just how much good that Ducati really is now.

I sincerely don’t think so, I think 2016 is either Marquez or Lorenzo.
For 2017 and 2018 Yamaha wants Viñales and I think Lorenzo is gonna be competitive and fighting for wins right away, I don’t think Rossi has it in him to fight with Maverick on the same bike, Lorenzo on the Ducati and Marquez (on any bike, really).

Ducati’s championship was with Casey Stoner, Hayden was (undeservedly) champion with Honda.

So interesting, if 2016 is shaping up nicely, I think 2017 can be craaaazy good, depending on who gets the #2 Honda and Yamaha (certainly Marquez will stay at Honda)

Don’t know, but you are right, this will be their third “Alien” rider (I think Ianonne comes close but is inconsistent) Rossi had a miserable time and by the end of it so did Stoner, but I think things are different now and Lorenzo will actually be quite good.

Not quite clear just yet, apparently Ducati were keen on keeping Iannone, but then he took Dovi and himself out in the trainwreck that was the last lap in Argentina, so that went out the window.
The talk in the paddock according to a couple of journos is that Ducati is cutting both Andreas loose next year and putting either Petrux or Redding on the factory ride.
As far as Yamaha goes, they are negotiating with Rins to go to Tech3, but won’t put him straight to the Factory squad, Jarvis wants Viñales, but Suzuki has an option to extend his contract, if it comes to that they will get another rider on a one year contract in expectance of either Maverick or Rins; Rossi wants that rider to be Andrea Iannone, who is the “first” alumnus of the VR46 Rider Academy.
Honda have announced that they will desist on trying to get Viñales on the team, because Marquez doesn’t want him in his team, but Rins may be an option (also sour point for Marquez since he is a rival of his brother), I think Marquez may want his brother in the team at some point, but given his results in Moto2, it may be the longest shot ever...
